General Description
The Investment Promotion Manager under the supervision of the head of Investment Promotion Department will be responsible for planning, organizing and directly supervising execution of all marketing, investment and investor service activities. He/she will be responsible for designing, scheduling and directing a broad range of promotional and investor service activities including follow-up of investor leads and inquiries, reception of inward investment delegation and missions, organization of outward investment missions and other pro-active promotional activities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Planning, scheduling, assigning and reviewing all work assignments of section personnel.
- Developing marketing messages and themes, based on agreed-upon target sectors and nationality groups of investors.
- Organizing local and international investment promotion seminars, missions and workshops.
- Planning other pro-active marketing activities including direct mail campaigns and, trade show participation.
- Assisting in introducing investors to appropriate Government officials, private sector executives, and association representatives.
- Maintaining relationships with Malawi’s overseas embassies and consulates to ensure proper handling and follow-up of investor inquiries.
- Promoting new potential areas of investment which will lead to diversification of the economy and advise investors on potential markets for products identified.
- Coordinating and maintaining high level contact with potential investors, national and regional private sector associations, government agencies and local and international financial institutions.
- Carrying out other duties as may be assigned from time to time by management.
Major Working Relationships
The Investment Promotion Manager will work closely with other unit Managers, co-ordinating and collaborating on planning, budgeting and program evaluation. He/she will maintain good working relationships with senior Government Officials and local and foreign private sector executives, as well as with financial institutions.

Qualifications
The Investment Promotion Manager should hold a Bachelors degree in Business Administration or Economics with at least five years’ experience in Investment Promotion and monitoring. This position requires maturity, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to gain acceptance from senior level business executives and government officials.
