Malawi Generates over 10 Investment leads from the World Investment Forum

Over 10 investors have expressed interest to do business with Malawi following Malawi’s participation to the 2018 World Investment Forum.  According to the Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC) the potential investors are in different sectors including; Energy, Financial Services, creative arts and SME development.

‘We have managed to get potential leads from about 12 companies that have expressed keen interest to do business us. Most of them are financing institutions that are interested in project financing’, explained Clement Kumbemba, Chief Executive Officer for MITC.

Kumbemba further explained that MITC will be following up with the investment leads to ensure that they translate into registered investors in the country.

Malawi was one of the countries that participated in this year’s World Investment Forum that took place in Geneva from the 22nd to the 26th of October, 2018. Malawi through, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism and the Malawi Investment and Trade Centre showcased its investment and trade opportunities during the event.

The World Investment Forum is a pre-eminent global platform for investment and development. The Forum devises strategies and solutions for global investment and development challenges. It facilitates multi-stakeholder collective action to stimulate investment in development.

The Forum offers a unique opportunity to influence investment-related policy making, shape the global investment environment, and to network with global leaders in business and politics.
