Malawi has once again demonstrated its growing competitiveness on the international stage after securing the Second Best Pavilion Award at the Global Expo Botswana 2025, held at the Fair Grounds in Gaborone from 8–11 October.
The award, presented during the Expo’s official closing and awards ceremony at Ditshupo Hall, recognized Malawi in the Branding and Set-Up category. Malawi’s pavilion stood out for its strong visual identity, strategic presentation, and compelling showcase of the country’s diverse products and services.
The Malawi delegation was led by Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC) officials, alongside renowned business expert Professor Napoleon Dzombe, and comprised 12 Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). Officials from the Malawi Consulate General in South Africa were also part of the delegation, reinforcing Malawi’s commitment to promoting trade and investment opportunities abroad.
Throughout the Expo, Malawian exhibitors engaged with international visitors, investors, and judges, highlighting the country’s innovation, competitiveness, and export potential. During the judging process, the panel interacted with exhibitors, posing key questions on Malawi’s motivation for participating in the Expo and the anticipated benefits of international market exposure.
One of the SME representatives, Vanessa Banda, expressed excitement over the recognition, noting that the award was proof that Malawi can successfully compete on a global platform.
She added that the achievement would inspire more Malawian SMEs to participate in future international expos, helping to further strengthen the country’s global presence and export footprint.
MITC officials welcomed the award, describing it as a testament to Malawi’s immense potential and its determination to showcase locally produced goods and services to the world. The recognition underscores the effectiveness of Malawi’s branding strategy and the quality of its products in competitive international markets.
The Global Expo Botswana officially closed on Saturday, 11 October, with exhibitors presenting their products for the final time to a diverse audience of trade professionals and consumers.
MITC remains steadfast in its mission to position Malawi as a premier investment and trade destination.
